Problems getting started with StarPound

Hello,

I am trying to get our first working StarPound installation up and running, (StarPound, Freeswitch, Voxeo) which we need for a first customer presentation. My Problems are the following:

1. Voxeo, as we are an OpenSource company, we use Linux, so I tried with Prophecy 9 and 10, but as I am not familiar at all with the Prophecy platform I have no Idea how to configure it, the documentation (which recomends version 8 which is windows only) is also rather short and confusing. It would be great to have, apart from a small Howto on configuring Prophecy 10, a bit of documentation how the VXML works in StarPound in combination with Freeswitch and Prophecy. I have knowledge with Asterisk and the i6net VXML Browser, which is rather easy to understand how they work with each other.

Right now I have Prophecy 8 installed in a Windows Virtual Machine, and configured as stated in the configuration, but I am not sure if it is correctly configured because in the Resource pool it is shown as not available:

voxeo_winxp 192.168.0.202 5060
null

--> VXML browser N/A

2. What do I really need to get to the point where I can create a sample Application with Starpound Studio?

The documentation is very scarce on this point, I tried to follow up the documentation but at the Telephony core installation, section Configuring StarPound, at one Point there is talk about configuring applications, but the select-boxes in Starpound are empty? I can see queues, when I am in the organization I set them up, but no applications, are there no applications after an core Installation?

3. If I try to create a User, checking the box "Check to create account on the SIP Registration Server" produces an error on save (without any meaningful error-message), I had to find out by trial and error which setting gave this error:
We could not process your request because of errors in the data you submitted. Please fix all the errors and resubmit:

  • Failed to add quser 'test'.

As I see it (and this field is not described in the documentation (Managament Console User Guide) this is used to tell StarPound that a SIP User in freeswitch should be created, or is it something else?

I really would appreciate any Help to get me to the point of being able to implement a simple application with the StarPound platform.

Thank you,

best Regards

Hi, the Update of VXML

Hi,

the Update of VXML configuration document for Prophecy 9/10 is under progress right now

"VXML browser N/A "
here N/A is "Not Applicable". It means The status of the server (offline/online) is used only for media servers only. Not for VXML servers too.
So i suppose your WXML server is configured correctly

You weren't able to see applications in select-boxes because you didn't deploy your application successfully (i can see it from your next post)
After StarPound Core and Telephony installation the StarPound system doesn't have any deployed applications

You don't need to check "Check to create account on the SIP Registration Server" if you use FreeSwitch

Thanks,
Evgenia

 Hello,

thank you for your answers, I can live right now with prophecy 8 on windows until the documentation for 9/10 is finished.

Is there some sort of bug-tracking program where I can file bugs/rfe's?

best regards

Raimund
