Q: Can I take advantage of StarPound's platform if I am not developing in a Java/J2EE environment? What if I am using Ruby, PHP, Python, Perl, ASP, .NET etc?
A: Absolutely! Because StarPound was designed with web services in mind, integrating within other development frameworks is simple. Each StarPound model that is deployed is effectively a web service, and can be accessed via SOAP and RESTful. What could be simpler?
Q: Can I use Starpound just as a BPM tool?
A: Yes! That's the beauty of it. You can create business process models and choose whether or not to voice-enable or automate them.
Q: What do I do after I modeled a business process using StarPound Studio?
A: First you need to compile/export the model. Then deployed the exported model to an instance of starpound CORE application server. The business process can be started using a URL, incoming phone call, an email message, or web service.
Q: Can I invoke other business processes not developed by me?
A: Yes. You can call other 3rd party processes using Independent Sub-process in the model. You can use the graphical binding tool to setup input/output data.
Q: Can I expose my business process as a Web Service so that it can be used by an external system?
A: Yes. You can model a business process and use Web Service Receive and Web Service Send tasks to expose the process as a Web Service and RESTful interface.
Q: Can I invoke other web services in my business process model?
A: Yes. You can import external web services into StarPound Studio using the web service import wizard.
Q: If in my model I want to access a database directly, can I do it?
A: Yes. Starpound Studio and application server can use any JDBC compliant database as a data source.
Q: Can I model call control in the business process?
A: Yes. You can use StarPound Studio to model incoming call handling as well outgoing call handling.
Q: Do you support CTI (Computer Telephony Integration)?
A: Yes. By adding the free StarPound Call Center add-on module to StarPound CORE™, you can model CTI logic in your business process.
Q: What VOIP standard do you support?
A: We support SIP.
Q: Do you have ACD (automated call distribution) and SBR (skills-based routing) support?
A: Yes — the Starpound Call Center add-on has built-in support for these and many other features.
Q: Do I need to install Call Center add-on if I just to want to handle normal calls.
A: No. You don't need to install Call Center add-on. Starpound CORE has built-in call control support. StarPound CORE supports IVR, VXML and basic call controls.
