StarPound Tutorial Videos

The following tutorials are provided in order for developers to learn more about the StarPound Platform. To launch a tutorial video, simply click the appropriate thumbnail image below.

Tutorial #1: Building a Simple IVR Application

This video tutorial will walk you through building a very simple IVR application with StarPound Studio. Additionally, it provides a basic overview of StarPound Studio, and some of the key concepts.

Tutorial #2: Logic Flow and SOA Integration

This video tutorial builds upon the first tutorial and demonstrates additional key concepts, including integration into external web services. Specifically, we show you how to build a voice-enabled application that retrieves the weather from an external web service.

Community-Contributed Demos/Tutorials

Open-Source Telephony (CTI) and Help Desk Application Mashup

This video tutorial provided by Don Curt, Managing Partner of CIO Services, LLC, demonstrates the use of StarPound to create a CTI mashup with Mojo Helpdesk, a simple-yet-effective hosted/SaaS help desk platform. Mojo is quickly and easily incorporated into StarPound's call center suite.

Voice Access to Data & Mashup with Amazon's Simple DB

This video tutorial provided by Don Curt, Managing Partner of CIO Services, LLC, shows how he quickly used the StarPound platform to create three interesting demos showing voice access to data, and integration with Amazon's Simple DB service, all without direct coding. By Don's own admission, he is not a professional software developer, but he is a "tech-enabled" IT professional, so he understands how the technology can be used to solve problems. That makes him the ideal testbed, and a perfect guy to put the StarPound platform to the test!
  • The first demo illustrates how to create an application that provides voice access to data stored in a backend MySQL database. The user calls into the application via telephone, and communicates via voice to the reporting engine, and has the requested information read to him over the phone, or emailed to him.
  • In the second demo, Don shows a really cool application for entering in travel expense information via voice over the telephone, and how this information is then stored using web service calls to Amazon's Simple DB service.
  • The final demo shows a retrieval of this expense data from Amazon's Simple DB. Very cool demo!

Creating a Web Frontend to Amazon Simple DB

This video tutorial provided by Don Curt, Managing Partner of CIO Services, LLC, shows how he visually built a simple web application frontend for Amazon's Simple DB service.
